Exploratory Workshops

Reinterpreting Compostitions

As my first workshop, I have joined the Reinterpreting Compostitions. The aim of this workshop is to get a better knowledge about camera angles & shots, a broad explanation of cinematography and to define ourselves in terms of storyboarding.

As our first excercise, our tutor has showed some examples of camera shots, and taught us about the general history of cinematography. Then, as pairs, we have found some storyboarding examples and talked about the shot techniques used in them. I have found examples from the animated series “Arcane”.

What I really liked about these storyboards is that how they managed to express the details and the emotions through each shot. Another fact is that you can also understand what is going on in the scene.

Storyboarding Activity

As our next excercise, we have got into 4 pairs. Our tutor has created a long text sequence for us to create a storyboard of. The story was about the classic “Little Red Riding Hood”. Each person has chosen the parts that they want to draw, and we have then expanded our storyboard with creating additional drawings. Overall, It was a very fun activity to join.
